Huskisson Camping Guide
Wednesday, 09 December 2020
There are few things in life as enjoyable as holidaying in a beach paradise. Beneath you, white sand, above you, a magnificent sunset.
This is Huskisson, a bustling coastal town in beautiful Jervis Bay. Truly, the only thing that enhances a visit here is knowing that you’ve also chosen the freedom of camping, where your home is wherever you are.
Visitors rave about Huskisson’s tranquillity and, luckily for those who also value simplicity, camping options here are bountiful.
Hidden Creek Campsite
As the name suggests, this gem is hidden in thick bushland, offering a private and peaceful escape on the banks of Currambene Creek, a mere five kilometres from Huskisson Beach by car.
Choose from one of the powered or unpowered pet-friendly sites, each with their own individual campfire pits – perfect for cooking your catch of the day, or toasting marshmallows!
With five acres of bush surrounds, you can connect with nature here, amongst critters like wallabies, sugar gliders and possums. Creature comforts abound too, including flush toilets, coin-operated hot showers, laundrette and communal kitchen boasting water and appliances.
You can even hire a kayak straight off the boat ramp!
Looking for a boat to take out on the waters with you? Finance one through Credit One. You can apply online in 30 seconds.
Good to Know: A powered site will set you back between $50-80 per night. They sell out during peak times, so book early.
Holiday Haven Huskisson Beach
If your goal is to enjoy stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, snorkelling, sailing, and fishing, or, if you simply want to rest on the beach and soak up the views, this camp puts you right where you need to be.
Kid and dog-friendly, here the family can enjoy a playground, pool, and tennis court.
Accommodation options include powered ensuite sites and shaded campsites, both with a dump point, barbecues, and camp kitchen.
One of the charming things about this spot is its location – with the ocean on the doorstep, it’s easy to meet Jervis Bay residents like little penguins, whales, dolphins, and fur seals!

Good to Know: There’s a one van, tent or trailer limit per site. Bring a 15 amp lead for powered sites, and note – double adapters are forbidden.
Cave Beach and Green Patch
No Huskisson camping guide would be complete without a nod to the sites within Booderee National Park, specifically Cave Beach and Green Patch.
Lightweight campers will love the minimal simplicity of Cave Beach campsite, a grassy spot offering access to terrific surf spots Cave Beach and Bherwerre Beach. Here, you can spend the night switched off from modern life, and the day exploring picturesque Sussex Inlet or meeting the waterbirds, frogs and turtles of Ryans Swamp.
For those with vans or trailers, Green patch offers a beautiful space to park and relax. The options are great, with large and standard, drive-in and walk-in sites on offer, and the facilities include sheltered barbeques, fresh water and hot showers.
Good to know: Due to demand, it’s advisable to bring your own gas barbecue. All Booderee campsites are unpowered, and your camp fee includes park use.
White Sands, Huskisson
If you’re keen to make your (temporary) home in the heart of Jervis Bay, White Sands is the Huskisson beach resort that has it all.
In a picturesque location, perched on a clifftop overlooking the bay, this site has everything to perfectly combine camping and comfort for trailers, vans, or tents.
One glimpse of the unforgettable waterfront views and you’d be forgiven for thinking you were miles from civilisation, but stroll along the boardwalk for just five minutes and you’ll find yourself in the friendly centre of town, home to vibrant clubs, pubs, shops, cafes and restaurants.
Of course, since this paradise is only a minute from the inviting calm water and warm soft sand of Huskisson Beach, you might not want to go anywhere other than down to the ocean for snorkelling, swimming, or relaxing under the sun!
And, as the sunset paints the sky in pinks and amber, you can return to your camp for a barbecue.
Good to know: As well as powered and unpowered sites, White Sands offers a little extra luxury with ensuite sites from $67 a night. Sorry, canine companions have to stay home.
Whether it’s the snowy sands of world-renowned Hyams Beach or the rich shipbuilding history that draws you to heavenly Huskisson, camping here is guaranteed to soothe the weariest of souls.
With some of the world’s most awe-inspiring sunsets, unique flora and fauna, and fun – or relaxing – activities on land, sand and sea, a Huskisson camping trip will stay with you forever.
